Apple said to shift 20% of production capacity to India, aims for $40 billion revenue in the next 5 years Apple may be on track to increase India’s local manufacturing revenue to nearly $40 billion over the next 5 years, as a result of the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive scheme (PLI) for large scale electronics manufacturing. The scheme will be largely availed by two of Apple’s contract manufacturers, namely Winstron and Foxconn. Apple is looking to shift nearly a fifth or 20% of their production out of China and to bring them to India. While India is not huge end-market for Apple’s smartphones (Apple’s market share in India is only 2-3%), schemes like PLI are causing Apple to look at India as a manufacture and export base. India premium smartphone market records growth of 21% YoY in Q1 2020 with Samsung in the lead: Report The premium smartphone market (>Rs. 30000) has been a competition between Samsung Apple and OnePlus for many quarters now. In the first quarter of 2020, the market saw a growth of 21% YoY, with Samsung managing to edge out Apple to take the lead as India’s current top premium smartphone manufacturer. While the government price hike for smartphones affected the budget segment in India, the premium segment remained largely unaffected as a majority of the price increase was taken up by the manufacturers instead of being transferred to the consumers. WhatsApp Web tests Messenger Rooms shortcut in new update Facebook is working hard to develop their Messenger Rooms, which is a feature that can be used to connect to people over video. In the latest 2.2019.6 WhatsApp Web update, Messenger Rooms appears to be in development to be integrated in as a shortcut. In Facebook’s announcement of the Messenger Rooms, they also mentioned integrating this feature into their other services like WhatsApp and Instagram. The shortcut did appear in 2.20.139 Android beta update but now has also started to be appearing in WhatsApp Web client. Since the feature is not available for everyone, it can be assumed that WhatsApp is testing the feature first before wide rollout. The main shortcut will be visible in the chat as an added button in attachment menu. The application will show a small introduction of the feature when the shortcut is clicked for the first time along with a prompt  to redirect the user to the Facebook Messenger app

Realme smartphone with 6000mAh battery expected soon Realme has launched several phones with a 5000mAh battery since the realme 5 which was  launched  back in August last year, and the latest Narzo 10 series phones pack a 5000mAh battery. Now a new realme battery BLP793 has received TUV certification. This is a 6000mAh (typical) / 5860mAh (minimum) battery which is the largest ever on a realme phone. With this realme could compete with the Samsung M series phones that also come a 6000mAh battery. Hope these phones also come with at least 18W fast charging support with USB Type-C. It is still not clear which realme phone will use this battery, but we can expect it to be a mid-range smartphone in the upcoming realme number series (7 or 7 pro) or C series to pack a 6000mAh battery. With the increase in battery the phones should also get heavier, but since its budget phones have a plastic body, the company should be able to manage it around 200 grams.
