Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G announced — 15% faster CPU and GPU performance compared to 765G, updateable GPU drivers Qualcomm just announced Snapdragon 768G, the company’s latest mid-range 5G Mobile platform and the successor of the Snapdragon 765G that was  introduced  back in December last year. This comes with faster Qualcomm Kryo 475 CPU Prime core clock speed up to 2.8 GHz compared to 2.4 GHz in the 765G and also promises up to 15% faster graphics rendering than Snapdragon 765G and support for 120Hz display. Apple said to shift 20% of production capacity to India, aims for $40 billion revenue in the next 5 years Apple may be on track to increase India’s local manufacturing revenue to nearly $40 billion over the next 5 years, as a result of the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive scheme (PLI) for large scale electronics manufacturing. The scheme will be largely availed by two of Apple’s contract manufacturers, namely Winstron and Foxconn. Apple is looking to shift nearly a fifth or 20% of their production out of China and to bring them to India. While India is not huge end-market for Apple’s smartphones (Apple’s market share in India is only 2-3%), schemes like PLI are causing Apple to look at India as a manufacture and export base. India premium smartphone market records growth of 21% YoY in Q1 2020 with Samsung in the lead: Report The premium smartphone market (>Rs. 30000) has been a competition between Samsung Apple and OnePlus for many quarters now. In the first quarter of 2020, the market saw a growth of 21% YoY, with Samsung managing to edge out Apple to take the lead as India’s current top premium smartphone manufacturer. While the government price hike for smartphones affected the budget segment in India, the premium segment remained largely unaffected as a majority of the price increase was taken up by the manufacturers instead of being transferred to the consumers.
